Who this is for
A second opinion may help if you:
- are unsure about your diagnosis
- have tried several treatments without enough benefit
- have been told there is little more that can be done
- have cluster headache, facial pain or an unusual headache that hasn't been explained
How it works
- Enquire. Email us with a description of your headaches and what you would like help with. A referral isn't required, but it is helpful.
- Pay your deposit. Once your date is agreed, we send a secure payment link for the deposit.
- Send your records. Please send your clinic letters, medical notes and any previous scan reports at least 7 days before your appointment. If scans are involved, please allow 14 days.
- Records review. Dr Wei reviews your notes and letters in detail beforehand, so your appointment is spent on your questions rather than repeating your history.
- Scan review, if needed. If you have had brain imaging done outside of King's College Hospital, please ask the hospital that holds your scans to send them to King's College Hospital. They are reviewed by our expert neuroradiologist.
- Extended consultation. You are seen in clinic for an extended appointment of up to 1.5 hours, usually in person at the Guthrie Wing, King's College Hospital, so that a full neurological examination can be carried out. Virtual appointments can sometimes be arranged depending on your situation, so please ask when you enquire.
- Written opinion. You receive a clear summary of the diagnosis and recommendations, with a copy to your GP and any referring clinician. Whether you continue with Dr Wei or return to your current doctor depends on your situation and your wishes, and we will talk this through at the end of your appointment.
